One of your tasks in the first and second day of the game, therefore, is to introduce yourself to EVERY character. This applies to Heart and Rival Heart Events as well as other special Events like the Fishing Rod event. Ordinarily, the first Events that you can experience in Cute as well as the original Harvest Moon DS will not trigger if you have not met the individual previously. My First Year Events Calendar Guide can be found at: Harvest Moon Cute DS 1st Year Events Calendar Guide Tips for First Week of the Game The first year of gameplay is the most difficult for most players. I include Crop, Mining and Shopping information where useful. I created Event Calendar Guides giving the earliest possible opportunity for a player to experience any event as well as reminding players of birthdays and festivals. You therefore need to use your time wisely if you wish to accomplish the most you can in any given day. Most are based on a specified level of affection or friendship even if they are not romantic events. Many require specific weather conditions. Events are very much a part of the 'Harvest Moon experience' and events ordinarily are location and time-specific. If you wish to marry, you need to allot a certain amount of time to courtship of an eligible bachelor. It is important to be able to grow crops, care for animals, explore the mines, fish and cultivate and maintain friendship with all members of your community. All the activities in Harvest Moon take time. In playing many Harvest Moon games, I have discovered that one of the most important elements of game strategy is the allotment of time. You can raise poultry and livestock, mine and fish as well as haggling with Van, the itinerant merchant, who sets up his stall on the 2nd floor of the Inn on specified days of the season. As in the 'boy' version of Harvest Moon DS, farming is not your sole occupation nor sole source of financial gain. Cute is a magnificent example of the very best in Harvest Moon. Male players who are reluctant to play a female character should reconsider. New events such as one in which Flora will act as a sensei to teach your character a rare martial arts technique will delight fans of Harvest Moon. There is a series of highly amusing events involving Kate and Hugh in particular. Furthermore, many events that were included in the original Japanese version of the 'Boy' game but which were eliminated from the English version have been restored in Cute. Furthermore, there is an entirely new character in Harvest Moon Cute DS who is worth the price of the game for his own sake alone! This is Skye, a very attractive and smooth-talking cat burglar who politely announces all of his intentions in advance. Although the Rival Heart Events are the same, as the same characters are involved in these, the Heart Events are new in every case. The original 'Boy' version of Harvest Moon DS and Harvest Moon Cute DS, which is the 'Girl' version have many elements in common but they cannot be deemed to be the 'same' game. The only distinction is that the name on the tombstone in the eastern corner of the map, a venerated rancher from Mineral Town, will be the name of your character in the Mineral Town game cartridge that you insert. It does not matter which cartridge you choose: ALL Mineral Town visits will be unlocked when you insert either FoMT or MFoMT. If you insert a copy of 'Friends of Mineral Town' or 'More Friends of Mineral Town', you will unlock visits by all the eligible girls and bachelors in those games. Most of the businesses and merchants with which you deal are in fact in Mineral Town and you will make orders by telephone. The relationship with Mineral Town, rather distant in 'A Wonderful Life', has become closer in HM DS and Cute DS. In fact, players of those games will recognise all the beloved characters who live in the Valley in Cute, including Murrey, Mukumuku and the eccentric inventor, Daryl. The location is Forget-Me-Not Valley, familiar to players of 'A Wonderful Life' and 'Another Wonderful Life' for the old GameCube platform. The main objective is to restore a neglected farm and to make it successful as well as becoming an integrated, useful and well-respected member of the community. Like all Harvest Moon games, Harvest Moon Cute DS fundamentally is a game about farming. Please send your emails as plain text or I shall not be able to respond.
